Internships & Volunteering

Internships & Volunteering

We offer internship and volunteering positions for those who are excited about working in a vision-driven startup and passionate about creating high quality sustainable housing.

Do you enjoy working with motivated people to make positive change? Our team works hard to deliver a great service and great results for clients. We love to see team members progressing, and we love to have fun whilst we work too.

As we are growing quickly, but are still small, you will be exposed to all parts of the business. This will give you a real understanding of what it’s like to start your own enterprise and how to create a self-build housing community. You will get the chance to learn lots about sustainable technology and construction and be able to focus on an area you are interested in.

For our long-term interns we are open to sponsor a personalised training program alongside your work. We also welcome university students interested in doing their project with Bright Green Futures.

Minimum period: 60 working days (unpaid), i.e. 3 months full-time, or the same number of days on a part-time basis over a longer period.

Requirements:

  1. A passion for the Vision of Bright Green Futures.
  2. Training, experience or talent in one or more of the areas relevant to our business: e.g. sustainable technology, community facilitation, architecture and design, graphic design, construction management, sustainable construction, finance, enterprise.

Intern Experiences

"Working in Bright Green Futures was a really inspiring experience. It allowed me to see new ways of living and to understand how we can make our daily life more sustainable, improving our comfort and society."

Enrico Ghidoni

"My time with Bright Green Futures was very inspiring! I did so many different things that I always learned something new and was often given the freedom to take initiative. Working closely with Steffie, I had the amazing opportunity to get insight into what it’s like to lead a company. The whole experience gave me a much better perspective on a sustainable way of living.

Thank you very much for the amazing time, Steffie, Martin, Larch and Pablo!"

Bruno Broer

"I jumped at the opportunity to work with Bright Green Futures: to be part of a small devoted team with lots of ideas and long-term goals. I learn about self-build and growing a business on a daily basis, and develop skills as the nature of work changes. I am now planning to read for a doctorate to work out how eco self-build communities can become a mainstream housing solution. Bright Green Futures has offered to sponsor me and are supporting me to get additional funding from the Research Council. I would never have thought this was on the cards when I first offered to volunteer!"
